Nuggets of Wisdom for an Organized Life

Updated: Aug 1

Over the years I've read a lot of books and taken several courses on organizing and decluttering. Occasionally there were short sayings that stuck with me because they packed a lot of meaning into their short statements. The following is a list of my favorites that speak to an organized life.

  • A place for everything and everything in its place.

  • If you want things to be different, you have to be willing to do things differently.

  • Clutter attracts more clutter.

  • "Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful." William Morris

  • If you haven't used it in the past year, you probably won't use it in the coming one either.

  • Rather than keeping items you might use in the future, give them to those who will use them today.

  • If it's broken, fix it or let it go.

  • Stuff we don't use regularly gets in the way of the stuff we do.

  • Physical clutter creates mental clutter.

  • The easiest way to stay organized is to have less stuff.

  • Visual order creates inner peace.

  • Small changes can have a big impact.

  • Clear counters invite creativity.

  • It's always easier to see other people's clutter than it is to see your own.

  • Letting go of things from a difficult past allows you to live your best life today.

  • Owning less is great, but wanting less is even better.

  • Transform your home so you can transform your life.

  • There's more to life than being a stuff manager.
